Just had an x ray done on my left knee. Findings are: There is a suprapatellar joint effusion. Tibial spines are mildly prominent and there is mild narrowing in the medial compartment of the knee. Impression: 1. Suprapatellar joint effusion, no fracture. 2. Mild narrowing in the medial compartment of the knee. I don't really understand and what can cause it. I haven't fell or damaged it in anyway.
Your findings suggests degenerative changes in knee joint. It is generally due to aging. However,it may be due to trauma etc. Degenerative changes are indicated by presence of tibial spikes and mild narrowing of medial compartment of knee joint. You may need clinical correlation and MRI of knee joint. It is important to assess articular cartilages, ligaments etc. Proper treatment depend upon clinical findings and MRI reports. Its treatment in both conservative and surgical intervention.
Get well soon.
